Los Altos IEPTA, Embracing Learning Diversity

Los Altos Individualized Education PTA 2012-2013

Los Altos IEPTA is being introduced for the 2011-2012 school year. Formerly known as LASEPTA, it has been renamed to more accurately reflect the diverse set of special educational concerns of its member community. LASEPTA was formed on June 5, 2007, as the first district-wide special education PTA in the Los Altos School District.

Los Altos IEPTA (formally SEPTA) works to support the special education needs of children in the Los Altos School District. We strive to foster communication, share information, and help our children become active and successful participants in our community. We welcome all parents, educators, and community members who are interested in our work.

The Special Education Leadership Committee was formed in Fall 2009 to investigate and advise the administration on issues related to providing excellence within the special education program in the Los Altos School District. The committee sponsored the adoption of a completely new Special Ed curriculum for all grades starting Fall 2010.

What We Do

Through our meetings, community events, and fundraisers, IEPTA strives to:

  • bring our families and children together
  • discuss educational issues common to children who receive special education
  • enhance communication between special education parents, the schools, and the district administration
  • help our children successfully participate in all aspects of education
  • increase awareness about special needs for the entire Los Altos learning community
